Interpreting Credentials:
These members are professional sign language interpreters who have successfully passed both the written and performance exams through CASLI RID (Center for Assessment of Sign Language Interpretation ; Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.).
Hearing Interpreters who hold a RID Certification (NIC, CI/CT, etc...) or RID recognized certification (NAD Certifications)
Deaf Interpreters who hold the RID CDI

RID Members
Any individual who is an active member (Certified, Associate, Supporting) in good standing of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID) would qualify for this membership category. Members of this category shall have voting privileges in FRID.
Non RID Members
Any individual with an interest in supporting the purposes and activities of FRID, but who is not an active member in good standing of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) would qualify for this membership category. Members of this category shall not have voting privileges in FRID.
Organizational Members
These members are agencies or organizations that choose to be listed in the FRID directory. While this is a non-voting category, we appreciate their support of the interpreting profession!
Student Members
Often students or community members who are passionate about the Deaf community and interpreting field.
RID Member: Any individual, who is currently enrolled in an Interpreter Training Program (ITP) at a college or university, with an interest in supporting the purposes and activities of FRID, and is an active member of RID. Members of this category shall not have voting privileges in FRID. NOTE: Proof of enrollment is required.
Non- RID Member: Any individual, who is currently enrolled in an Interpreter Training Program (ITP) at a college or university, with an interest in supporting the purposes and activities of FRID, and is not an active member of RID. Members of this category shall not have voting privileges in FRID. NOTE: Proof of enrollment is required.
Senior Citizen
RID Member: Any individual who is an active member in good standing of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID) and who is aged 55 or older would qualify for this membership category. Members of this category shall have voting privileges in FRID.
Non-RID Member: Any individual, who is aged 55 or older, with an interest in supporting the purposes and activities of FRID, but who is not an active member in good standing of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) would qualify for this membership category. Members of this category shall not have voting privileges in FRID.

Members can choose what personal details show in the public directory—beyond your name and credentials (which are required).
To update your profile visibility:
Click View Profile in the top right corner
Select Edit Profile > Access by Others
Check Allow to Show Profile
Choose which information you’d like to display
Click Publish at the bottom
Certification & Ethics Requirement
All Certified and Pre-Certified Associate Members must maintain active membership with both FRID and RID. This ensures they follow the RID-NAD Code of Professional Conduct and are held accountable through RID’s Ethical Practices System (EPS).
