Understanding the process of interpreting from the perspective of a Deaf interpreter is critical to the work of an interpreting team. Collaborating with Deaf interpreters (DIs)  and certified Deaf interpreters (CDIs) is a skill that many hearing interpreters are interested in developing and would love to learn more about. FRID has put together what promises to be a rich learning experiences on this issue.

FAQ

What is the dress code?

The dress code is Black-tie! Tuxedos and floor-length gowns! Don’t be afraid to wear COLOR or PATTERN- this is a night OFF!

Can I bring my partner who doesn’t know ASL?

YES. Please bring a plus-one to celebrate the evening with you! We plan for the night to be accessible to all. There will be lots of interpreters around if needed ;).

What are we celebrating?

YOU! Our organization has hit a milestone- 50 years; that’s half a century! We could not have made it without our members, who are also our leadership, our committee chairs, the people who read the emails we send out, the people who’ve kept the wheels turning all these years!

Can a non-FRID member buy tickets?

Only FRID members can purchase tickets as this is a members-only event; but we do not expect your Plus-One to be a FRID member.

Will there be dancing?

Yes! We will have a D.J. Dancing and eating are basically the entire agenda.

Will there be CEUs?

NO! This is not a workshop. While networking is bound to happen with a room full of niche professionals, this night is about FUN. See last question ;).

What should I bring?

I.D. will be needed for check-in and cash/card for purchasing any alcoholic drinks from the cash bars.

For any necessary accommodation requests, please email pdc@fridcentral.org at least 14 days before the start time of the event.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable.
