What we've been up to in 2022!

December 16, 2022

Our Professional Development Committee Chair Victoria Montalvo and her Board Liaison Katryna Arias hosted a social for pre-certified interpreters, students of the profession, and the like to get together in a safe space to discuss their goals and find supportive colleagues to help them along their journey. Thanks to all who came out to enjoy the boots weather on the patio at World of Beer Lake Eola!

Our Annual Business Meeting had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Ian, which meant converting our workshop to virtual and losing the workshop post meeting. Luckily we didn't have to reschedule the ABM again with Hurricane Nicole passing through! We are appreciative to Valencia College (Debbie Drobney!) for hosting us, as well as our two Sponsors, ASL Services and International Language Services!

To close out the summer, FRID made a SPLASH in the interpreting community by hosting a summer splash event at Southshore Bay Lagoon in Wimauma. Deaf and interpreting communities came together to network and enjoy some fun in the beautiful Florida sun, organized by Daryl Everett, Region Rep West. Thanks to all who attended!

FRID is grateful to have been a part of this historical evening! A local Orlando agency, Verbatim Languages, sponsored several FRID Board members and their families to attend the evening in their suite for a night to remember! THANK YOU VERBATIM!
